Teaching

My teaching journey is varied and extensive. I am a qualified English secondary school teacher by profession. I am also a creative writing tutor. I teach for the Poetry School and as a short course tutor for St Mary’s University. I offer teaching in both academic and community settings. In the past, I have also taught at Royal Holloway University of London and Kingston University. My creative writing classes embrace poetry exploration, writing exercises and constructive critical feedback. I offer a safe, nurturing space, where creativity and self can flourish, where confidence and ideas grow.

Agnieszka Studzinska teaching
I took this course because I like Agnieszka’s tutoring style, appreciate her (and your) feedback and because I have an interest in photography, time, memory, and hauntology – a subject that I have explored much more deeply thanks to Agnieszka’s brilliant ‘At home in hauntology – Poetry through Derrida’ course with the Poetry School. A big thank you to Agnieszka – my poem ‘sinphonia lacrimosa’ , written on the course, was published by Ink, Sweat and Tears.

I’d like to share the news that my poem ‘Are we still talking about duality’ – drafted during Agnieszka Studińska’s At Home in Hauntology course – was selected by Aaron Kent as a winner of the Poetry Society Members’ Competition, and as Poem of the Month for the Poetry Society Members’ newsletter.
I’d like to add that Agnieszka’s course materials, and the quality of her critiques are outstanding. You have an excellent teacher there!
Fiona Larkin - The Poetry School

Seminars were extremely varied, engaging, and allowed me to explore my own ideas as well as introducing me to new ones. She gave everyone in the group a chance to share their views in an inclusive and welcoming way. I always thought my ideas were being listened to and responded to. The range of ideas covered was amazing and I have been inspired to start writing my own poetry again due to the seminars and her poetry workshops!
Student, Royal Holloway University

I’ve taken Agnieszka’s Poetry of Space and Hauntology courses, which I found both challenging and supportive. Like others, I also owe Agnieszka a huge thank you. Her Hauntology course inspired me to put a collection together. The title, Love haunts in shades of blue, is from a poem I wrote for the course. It has won the 2022 Literary Award from Cinnamon Press and will be published early in 2024. (I publish under my other name — Yvonne Baker).

Govan - The Poetry School

I have been a student of Agnieszka’s adult creative writing class for some time. She is a highly accomplished tutor. Her classes are well researched and delivered as she skilfully pulls out the inner writer in us. She provides a positive and trusting environment in which students are able to develop and critique their own and others work. Every session is an exciting and engaging place to be as she provides that solid structure for us poets. I always leave her classes on a high note.
