Agnieszka Studzińska’s Seamless challenges our relationship with language and uncertainty. Language in this collection becomes a ghostly haunt, tracing the journeys and moments in which the narrator encounters language’s difficulties and absence. The collection asks what it means to make meaning in the natural world and in our everyday lives. The poems are set against a lyrical narrative of doubt and hesitation, where private moments open to larger philosophical questions. Even the ghost of Derrida is gently foregrounded in his own questioning of what it means to speak and write.

Workshop on AIR

This workshop aims to explore the boundaries of practice-based research and the creative critical. It consists of two parts: a practice-based research project and a performance lecture.

AIR

In the first part, Professor Robert Hampson and Dr Agnieszka Studzinska will present their current collaborative, practice-based project on air. This takes the form of a sequence of poems, written over a six-month period, in an open-ended dialogue where each new poem represented the participant’s response to the most recent work of the other. The sequence undertakes an exploration of air as matter, air and environmental pollution, air and the body, and so on. It is an interdisciplinary project which draws (among other things) on the history of air pollution in London, physiology, medical geography, the physics of the air, and the poetics of breath.

European Poetry Festival 2024

The 2024 European Poetry Festival visits Norwich in partnership with the National Centre for Writing and the remarkable Forum Auditorium to once again present an evening celebrating poetry, performance and the potentials of collaboration. AN EVENING OF POETRY AND VISUAL ART
Words from the Wild: The Nature of Poetry explores different forms of poetry, all of which respond to the natural world. The exhibition expands on what we might think of as a poem, to include films, textile banners, sculptures in beeswax, and prints made from ‘listening’ to trees. It brings together pieces by award-winning and internationally exhibited eco-poets and language artists.

St Cecilia’s Evening: A celebration of live music

19th November 2022, 6-7pm.

This is the concert recording of the collaborative outcome between Agnieszka Studzinska and Fiz Markham. The choral composition was created by Fiz Markham and was entitled Snow Scene. It was composed in response and in dialogue with Agnieszka Studzińska’s poem Oil on Canvas THC0052, which in turn, responded to Ludwig Munthe’s painting Snow Scene (1873).
